SIMAC gives back

At SIMAC we recognize that in order to be considered truly successful, our company must fulfill its social as well as business responsibilities, both locally and on a global level. To that end, giving back has always been a significant part of the SIMAC culture. We go that extra mile to raise funds for worthy causes on a regular basis.

Supporting Our Troops and Their Families

This Holiday Season, SIMAC is making a generous contribution to support educational scholarships for the children and families of our Fallen Soldiers. Our contribution will be used by the Canadian Hero Fund. The initial project of the Canadian Hero Fund is to provide post-secondary scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen Canadian soldiers. Scholarships awarded by the Fund help finance post-secondary education at government-accredited universities, colleges and technical schools.

SIMAC Makes Dream Come True for 15-year-old Veronica
WISH recipient Veronica meets her favourite actor Alan Rickman.

Thanks to SIMAC's generous support of a wish at the 2010 Insurance Gala the Starlight Children's Foundation was able to make Veronica's dream come true!

Veronica is a 15-year-old girl with both Lupus and severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. She misses a great deal of school due to aggressive treatments and often feels very isolated and alone. One of Veronica's joys is writing and acting, so when the Starlight Children's Foundation asked Veronica for her wish, she immediately answered that she would like to meet her favourite actor, Alan Rickman. Thanks to SIMAC's generosity, Starlight has made her dream come true!

Veronica and her family traveled to New York City to meet Alan in person. Her wish included tickets to see Wicked on Broadway, 3 Day New York e-Tickets, a Circle Line Cruise, spending money and of course, a meeting with Alan Rickman. Veronica attended Alan's play, "The Creditors" and afterwards had a private meeting with the actor. Here is what she said after returning home…

"OMGMGMGMGMGMGMG IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I wish it could last forever!! He (Alan Rickman) gave me LOTS of advice. I told him I want to try my luck with script writing and directing before I get into acting and he said that was a really smart idea for me to go that route. He told me LOTS of valuable stuff. He's such a great person and focused on me the whole time. It was so nice. This was AMAZING and life changing. I feel so ... rejuvenated! THANK YOU!!"
